Vera E. Ferguson, 96, of Cleveland, Tennessee and formerly of Oblong, Illinos, passed away on Friday June 7, 2013 at her son’s home in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Vera was born on August 10, 1916 in Oblong, Illinois. She was the daughter of Edward and Harlena (Jennings) Leach. On December 25, 1936, she married VIrgil B. Ferguson who preceded her in death in 1980.
Vera was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her family. She trusted Christ as her Savior as a teenager and was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Oblong, Illinois.
Vera is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Larry and Darlene Ferguson of Cleveland, Tennessee; four grandchildren Michelle Huskey and Melissa Harrison both of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ben Bomer of Oblong, Illinois and Kara Kurtz of Newton, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren Noah Kurtz of Newton, Illinois, Ben and Joseph Huskey, Lucas, Levi, Lydia and Lance Harrison all of Cleveland, Tennessee; and a niece Monna Hickox of Casey, Illinois.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter Kathy and five older sisters.
Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois
